21 August 2026

Performance Our People

Volleyball South Australia (VSA) is pleased to announce a new one-year partnership with Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic, strengthening the support available to South Australian volleyball athletes across the VSA performance pathway.

The partnership will see Wakefield support VSA athletes and programs throughout the year, with a presence at key events including the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships (AJVC), Australian Youth Volleyball Championships (AYVC), Australian Volleyball Super League (AVSL), Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships (AYBVC) and the Pelligra SA Open.

Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic has three locations across Adelaide at Calvary, North Adelaide and Dulwich, and brings extensive experience across sports medicine and athlete care.

Its multidisciplinary team includes sports doctors, sports physiotherapists, orthopaedic surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, podiatrists, massage therapists and exercise physiologists, providing athletes with access to a wide range of services from injury prevention and performance optimisation through to diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and returning safely to the court.

Wakefield also operates a seven-day-a-week sports injury clinic during the winter months, aligning closely with the volleyball season and providing athletes with access to support throughout the year.

VSA CEO, Paul Bauer, said the partnership was an exciting opportunity for VSA and its athletes.

"We’re really pleased to welcome Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic to the Volleyball SA family. Having a partner with their level of experience and expertise involved across our performance pathway and major events is a great opportunity for our athletes."

"This partnership is about providing our athletes with the best possible support as they progress through our programs, while also giving Wakefield an opportunity to be part of some of the key events and experiences across the VSA calendar. We’re looking forward to building a strong relationship with the team at Wakefield and seeing the partnership grow over the next year."

Julia Tavasci | Business Development Manager – Medical from Wakefield said,

“Together, we're committed to keeping South Australian volleyball athletes healthy, moving and performing at their best from grassroots players through to the elite levels.

As one of South Australia's leading multidisciplinary sports medicine clinics, Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic is here to support athletes at every stage of their journey. From injury prevention and performance optimisation to diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and getting safely back on the court, our team is with you every step of the way.

We're excited to be part of the Volleyball SA community and can't wait to see the incredible athletes coming through the ranks. Together, we're keeping South Australians moving, competing and thriving!"

VSA looks forward to working closely with Wakefield Sports + Exercise Medicine Clinic throughout the coming year and welcoming the team across VSA’s performance programs and major events.
