RECAP: SA VOLLEYBALL SCHOOLS CUP
20 August 2026
Our People Juniors CompetitiveSA Volleyball Schools Cup 2026 has wrapped up after three action-packed days of school volleyball, with a record 176 teams from 33 schools competing across South Australia.
Held on 13, 14 and 16 August, this year’s competition was the biggest Schools Cup yet, with matches spread across seven venues: The Lights Community and Sports Centre, The ARC Campbelltown, Reynella East College, Mount Lofty Community Sports Centre, Marion Leisure & Fitness Centre, Brighton Secondary School and Mitchell Park.
From emerging players experiencing school volleyball for the first time through to some of the state’s strongest school teams, the three-day competition provided opportunities for students across a wide range of ages and skill levels to compete, represent their schools and enjoy the sport.
Northern Territory teams make the trip
Schools Cup 2026 also welcomed interstate representation, with two teams from Casuarina Senior College in the Northern Territory travelling to Adelaide to compete.
The visit proved to be a successful one, with the Casuarina Year 12 Division 1 Boys team finishing with a silver medal.
Their participation added another dimension to the competition and highlighted the growing reach of Schools Cup beyond South Australia.
Open Honours competition sets up National opportunity
The Open Honours divisions produced a strong field, with five different schools competing across each of the Open Honours Boys and Open Honours Girls competitions.
With the competition also serving as a pathway to the National Schools Cup, the top three ranked teams from both Open Honours divisions secured qualification for the national event.
It means six South Australian school teams will now have the opportunity to represent the state at the National Schools Cup.
A record year for Schools Cup
The record participation is another strong sign of the continued growth of school volleyball in South Australia.
With 176 teams, 33 schools, seven venues and three days of competition, Schools Cup 2026 brought together thousands of students, teachers, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters across the week.
Volleyball SA Events Lead, Madeeha Siddiqui, said,
“It’s been a really rewarding Schools Cup, particularly seeing a record number of teams take part this year. Getting an event of this size across multiple venues takes a huge amount of coordination, and I’m really grateful to everyone who helped make the three days run so smoothly; from the schools, coaches and officials through to our staff and venue teams. This was my fifth Schools Cup, and it’s been great to see how much the event has grown over that time. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year’s competition such a success.”
A huge thank you goes to every school, player, coach, official, parent, volunteer and staff member who helped make this year's Schools Cup possible.
Most importantly, congratulations to all the students who stepped onto the court, represented their schools and contributed to another memorable Schools Cup.
