SAVL Performance Our People CompetitiveThe SAVL Premier season came to a thrilling conclusion on Saturday, 15 August, with the Grand Finals taking place at The Lights Community and Sports Centre.
More than 600 people came through the venue across the day to witness two exciting championship matches and celebrate the end of another successful SAVL Premier season.
Austral Women End 45-Year Wait for Premier Title
Austral Women claimed their first SAVL Premier Women’s title in 45 years, defeating USC Lion in straight sets.
Austral produced a composed performance from the opening point, securing the Grand Final 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 to cap off a memorable season.
Ruby Vanloo was named the Sue Dansie Best on Court for the Women’s Grand Final following her outstanding performance for the Phoenix.
Norwood Men Take Home the Men’s Championship
In the Men’s Grand Final, Norwood Men overcame Austral Men in four sets to claim the SAVL Premier title.
After Austral took the opening set 25-22, Norwood responded strongly, winning the next three sets 25-17, 25-16 and 25-13 to secure the championship.
Norwood’s strong finish saw them take control of the match and close out the season as SAVL Premier Men’s champions.
Harrison Peacock took home the Michael Reu Best on Court award for the Men’s Grand Final after a standout performance for Norwood Bears.
