Kadaltilla supports Bonython Park Project
10 June 2026
Our People Fun and Social CompetitiveKadaltilla has supported the Site Plan Concept Report for a proposed beach volleyball facility in Bonython Park/Tulya Wardli (Park 27), which confirms that the existing hardstand area-used predominantly for car parking since 1997 as the optimal location.
This is a great example of making better use of an underutilised space in the Adelaide Park Lands - transforming an existing hardstand area (rather than creating new hardstand) into an active, community-focused destination.
Why this location works so well:
Repurposes an existing hardstand area
Reduces car parking within the Adelaide Park Lands
No impact on existing vegetation or event spaces
Strong connections to public transport and active travel routes
High visibility and natural surveillance along Port Road
Efficient use of existing access and vehicle movements
Supports future enhancements in Bonython Park
Can operate alongside other events and activities in the park
This is a fantastic opportunity to activate Bonython Park in a way that supports sport, recreation and community connection, while improving how this space functions for the community.
What’s next?
The City of Adelaide will continue working with Volleyball SA to progress the detailed design, informed by the Site Plan Concept Report. Once funding is secured, the project will return to Kadaltilla and Council for further consideration, including a detailed design and draft Park Lands Community Lease Agreement.
