Mid Coast Volleyball Club Joins the Volleyball SA Community
19 January 2026
SAVL Our People CompetitiveVolleyball South Australia is pleased to welcome its newest affiliate, Mid Coast Volleyball Club, to the South Australian volleyball community.
Established in 2025, Mid Coast Volleyball Club will make its debut in the 2026 South Australian Volleyball League (SAVL) season. The club will be based out of Aldinga Payinthi College, providing a new and exciting pathway for athletes in the southern region to access high-level volleyball opportunities.
Club President Connaire Burns shared that the creation of Mid Coast Volleyball Club stems from both passion and purpose.
“I’ve created this club because of my passion for the sport and a desire to provide more opportunities for athletes in the southern area to access this amazing sport,” Connaire said.
Having grown up in the southern region himself, Connaire highlighted the historical lack of access to elite training and competition opportunities as a key driver behind the club’s formation.
“I’ve grown up in the southern region and we have always had fewer opportunities to train and play at the highest levels in volleyball, which has shaped the vision of the club,” he added.
Speaking on that vision, Connaire explained that Mid Coast Volleyball Club aims to take a holistic and values-driven approach to the sport.
“The vision of the club is to provide high-level volleyball playing and coaching opportunities, alongside the holistic development of both senior and junior athletes within South Australia’s southern region,” he said.
“We are approaching the sport a little differently by strongly promoting the values of passion for the sport, humility, inclusivity, respect, excellence through effort, and legacy through leadership. We take pride in how we conduct ourselves both on and off the court.”
Mid Coast Volleyball Club hopes to see volleyball participation continue to grow in the southern area, while fostering a positive and inclusive culture that keeps athletes and coaches involved in the sport for the long term.
To kick things off, the club will be hosting an Open Day on 22 January, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Aldinga Payinthi College.
This will be followed by Senior Trials, scheduled for:
27 January & 29 January
3 February & 5 February
All trial sessions will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Aldinga Payinthi College.
Following trials, athletes will move into pre-season training, including a structured strength and conditioning program, commencing from 9 February.
Volleyball South Australia wishes Connaire and everyone involved with Mid Coast Volleyball Club all the very best for the journey ahead and looks forward to working together to continue growing volleyball across even more corners of our state.
