Performance Our People Juniors CompetitiveA combined team of Port Lincoln students, The Lower Eyre Peninsula Team, proudly represented their region at the 2025 VSA Schools Cup, competing in the Year 12 Boys Division 2.
The squad featured eight players from Years 9 to 12, including three female players, highlighting the collaborative effort across schools to ensure opportunities for participation at this level. Students came together from Port Lincoln High School (five players), Navigator College (two players), and St Joseph’s School Port Lincoln (one player).
The initiative was a joint effort to provide students from Port Lincoln with exposure to a formal, statewide competition. For many, it was a chance to compete against a wider pool of schools while developing both their volleyball skills and personal growth.
Adding to the significance, the team included five athletes from Volleyball SA’s Emerging Talent Hub in Port Lincoln, which was launched earlier this year to strengthen regional player pathways.
On the court, the group showed great resilience in pool play, winning a set in two of their three matches, as well as in their 5th place qualifier. Their persistence was rewarded in the final playoff, where they claimed their first victory of the tournament with a 2–1 win over Prince Alfred College, securing 7th place overall.
Volleyball SA congratulates the team for their effort, teamwork, and determination, and looks forward to seeing more regional athletes seize opportunities through the Schools Cup in years to come.
