Performance Our PeopleEmpowering Coaches: Level 3 Associate Course Elevates the Game
From July 5th to 7th, the Level 3 Associate Coaching Course brought together a dynamic group of passionate volleyball coaches, committed to growing their craft. Hosted in at the newly built SASI precinct, this course welcomed 20 coaches, including participants from the Power of Her Program, interstate representatives, and South Australian based coaches.
The course was presented by Naam Pham, Volleyball Australia’s National Para Volley Lead and Paralympic Volleyball Coach, who brought a wealth of experience and insight to the participants. Seventeen attendees were from South Australia, with ten of those receiving support through the Power of Her Program, thanks to the Office For Sport, Recreation and Racing. Additionally, coaches made the journey from Queensland, Western Australia, and New South Wales, demonstrating the national reach and appeal of this course.
The Level 3 Coaching Course is designed to push the boundaries of the coach —challenging them to rethink their approach, reflect on their philosophy, and refine their delivery. It combines both the theory and practical application of coaching across multiple disciplines, including Beach, Indoor, and Para Volleyball, while also integrating sessions on Strength & Conditioning and Statistics. This approach ensures that coaches leave with tools they can immediately apply to improve athlete development and on court performance.
Newly certified Level 3 Coach and Power of Her participant Bek Footner reflected on the experience:
“The Level 3 Coaching Volleyball course was not only an amazing opportunity to learn, practice, and experience a variety of techniques and systems, but also provided the opportunity to have open dialogue and be part of the wider volleyball community. It was also special to work with an amazing group of women who want to make an impact in the volleyball community.”
Jon, who travelled from Queensland to attend, shared:
“While I travelled a long way for the opportunity, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and how it wasn’t content-heavy. Naam used the experience in the room and challenged us to think outside the box and practically apply our skills. There are not a lot of opportunities for coaches to take part in a Level 3 course.”
