2024 Mahindra Super League Finals Series Women's Team Insights

9 October 2024

Performance

This weekend, the 2024 Mahindra Super League Finals Series will be held at the Adelaide 36ers Arena.

After an intense and successful regular season, both our Women's and Men's Pelligra Adelaide Storm teams finished third on the ladder, and now have their eyes on the championship prize!

Our Women will play in Semi Final 2 on Saturday 12th, 6.00pm (approximately) VS MELBOURNE VIPERS

We were lucky enough to hear from several players about their thoughts and feelings leading up to the exciting game!

Danusia Sipa Borgeaud, #3

The Storm Women are excited heading into this weekend,

"it has come around really quickly, all the teams have had a close season. All teams have been fairly even, and the competition has been extremely close, which makes it more intense and exciting! Anything could happen in these finals, and we are just wanting to give everything we have and finish the weekend with no regrets."

Danusia is hoping the team can bring their best to the court this weekend,

"Our strength is our ability to play relentless volleyball, especially within our defence. We also have a lot of depth in this team so there is a lot of options for all our players to come on the court and have an impact."

Rachel Reeve, #4

Setter Rachel echoed Danusia's thoughts, with full faith in the team and their abilities,

"I think our  versatility will be our greatest strength this weekend. All of our hitters have been working really hard to be able to score in different scenarios, and our scramble and defense will continue to be a strength."

The team is confident in their ability to execute the game plan,

"We’ll definitely be focusing on our relentlessness in defence to push the vipers into some long rallies, as well as a strong side out game."

Chloe Jarvis, #11

It's expected to be a tough battle, but the Storm Women are focused on within,

"I believe we are feeling very settled and connected as a team. There is an immense amount of trust and respect amongst players and coaches and as a result, we have experienced huge growth as a collective."

"It is exciting to be playing the Vipers again, they are a very strong team and an amazing match-up for us. They're the kind of team that forces us to play at our best! We know for sure it'll be a tough but incredibly fun game."

The Storm will be going into battle with one word in mind from Coach Rachel Orchard,

"'Relentless' is a keyword our head coach, Rach, has been using as a benchmark for how we carry ourselves as a team during training and games, so I am hoping this is evident during the finals series."

Volleyball SA wish the best of luck to our Storm Women!
