Performance Pathway Interview - Ella
5 September 2024
Performance Our People Juniors CompetitiveEver wondered what our tier 2 athletes get up to?
We caught up with Performance Pathway athlete, Ella Salievic, for an update!
Ella told us "Pathways has helped me learn new skills from a variety of coaches and I am always encouraged to do my best. The Pathway Program has opened up opportunities for me and helps me plan for my future ... we get the opportunity to sit with coaches multiple times throughout the program and discuss goals for the short and long term. We are then able to hold ourselves accountable to these goals and review if and how we achieved them".
When asked about the new SASI venue which is currently under development in Mile End, Ella spoke highly of the prospected idea saying, "I love it! The new courts will be perfect and the gym is going to be so fancy. We are very, very lucky to get access to this facility. I think it should be one of the best, if not the best, sporting facilities in Australia".
Ella was excited to hear that along with the new SASI facility to improve her game, her physical health would be taken care of by the experts in volleyball treatment, PhysioXtra. "PhysioXtra is very accessible, and their support at tournaments is hugely beneficial for us athletes," she says.
We spoke to Rachiel Orchard, Head Coach of Performance and Talent, who had this to say "Ella is a huge asset to the program. She brings great leadership qualities that bolster the level and intensity at training, encouraging those around her to continue to improve along with herself."
Ella finished her interview by saying, "Tier 2 has given me and the other tier athletes many opportunities in both beach and indoor, such as representing our state, AUS development, (Australian) beach tours, and (Pelligra Adelaide) Storm affiliation. To be able to train under such experienced and qualified coaches is invaluable and great for our development, and SA should be proud to have such a great program in place."
