Coaching Women and Girls – Pilot Workshop: Applications Now Open!

Calling all community coaches dedicated to empowering women and girls in sports! Don't miss this incredible opportunity to enhance your coaching skills and create positive experiences for your athletes.

In partnership with Sport SA and the Marjorie Jackson-Nelson Centre for Women’s Sport, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) presents a one-day workshop designed to equip coaches with the tools to foster supportive and safe environments for female athletes.

What to Expect:

Date & Time: May 12, 2024, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Venue: Sport SA, Military Road, West Beach, Adelaide, SA 5024

Pre-Work: Coaches will complete a short workbook to tailor the session to their needs.

Participant-Led: Your experiences and perspectives will guide the learning process.

Topics Include:

Understanding Yourself: How does this shape your coaching practice?
Coaching Perspectives and Experiences with Women and Girls
Psycho-social, Physiological, and Physical Considerations
Strategies for Positive Experiences in Community Sports

Costs and Catering:

Free admission for selected community coaches

Lunch and light refreshments provided

Diversity Encouraged:

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, LGBTIQ+, People with Disabilities, and all genders and expressions.

Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum 1 year of coaching experience

Actively coaching women and girls in community sports

18 years of age or older

Support Available:

We provide support for attendance, including translators, childcare, breastfeeding areas, and assistance for individuals with specific needs. Email coaching@ausport.gov.au for details.

Assessment and Evaluation:
