New Volleyball Club "Playford Patriots" Aims to Make a Boom in SA Volleyball

The Playford Patriots, a newly formed volleyball club in SA, has announced its launch ahead of the upcoming SAVL season. The team, which is an extension of the well-established Playford Patriots soccer club, aims to expand the community club and provide more opportunities for locals to engage in sport and volleyball.

The Playford Patriots Volleyball Club's first women's team comprises of six athletes ranging from 16 to 35 years old, with Audrey Hamilton coaching the Div 3 women this year. Greg Voigt is the chairman of the club, and the team will train on Thursday evenings at the John Mcveity Centre in Smithfield. The club is also actively seeking additional players of all ages with an interest in volleyball, and there will be coaching opportunities available in the coming years.

The Playford Patriots Volleyball Club's primary goal for the upcoming season is to break into the SAVL comp and make a name for themselves as a competitive team. The club's long-term objective is to establish a range of teams in both gender categories and develop a new venue on their home grounds in Ramsay Park. The club hopes that by creating a new venue and club, they can help build a northern presence for volleyball in SA.

"We want to create a positive, open, and inclusive environment where everyone can have fun, achieve their goals, and be treated with respect," said Audrey Hamilton. "We also believe that the social aspects of a club are important and encourage players, friends, and family to visit our club grounds and support our teams on match days."
