Sophia Naismith - SA Spirit Award

Volleyball South Australia is proud to announce the inaugural Sophia Naismith, SA Spirit Award.

This award is in honour of Sophia Naismith, a passionate and supportive junior volleyballer who represented South Australia on multiple occasions.

This perpetual award will be voted on by athletes and coaches at the Australian Youth Beach and Indoor Championships each year and presented at the post-Championships event.

It is awarded to an athlete who embodies the same spirit and values as Sophia, with criteria including:

A super positive and friendly outlook
Compassion and thoughtfulness toward others
Willingness to learn and improve
A never-give-up attitude
A commitment to the team and South Australian pride

This award recognises not only athletic performance but also character and sportsmanship.

Volleyball South Australia, CEO, Karla Della-Pietra commented, “through this award, Volleyball South Australia hopes to encourage and inspire athletes to embrace and symbolise these qualities on and off the court, in honour of the legacy left by Sophia Naismith.”
