Congratulations to Pelligra Adelaide Storm athletes Beth Carey and Nathan Roberts for being named Captain's of our 2022 squad.
Beth Carey leads the women's team as Captain with Rebecca Reeve and Anna Schoof rounding out the leadership team as Vice Captains.
Beth Carey is the former Captain of the Australian Volleyroos and has many years of playing and leadership experience, including playing professionally overseas.
Rebecca and Anna both bring a large amount of playing experience and natural leadership to the team. With Rebecca playing overseas and for the Australian Volleyroos and Anna previously being a part of the Volleyball Australia Centre of Excellence program.
Head Coach, Alexis Lebedew, said "We have amazing experience, international and national, in our formal leaders. With our captain having captained the national team. As well as this we have experience and leadership throughout the team. This is the deepest and most experienced team I've coached in AVL for 20 years. There are exciting times ahead for sure, thanks to Pelligra and VSA's long term commitment to the Adelaide Storm."
Olympian, Nathan Roberts, heads up the men's leadership team with support from Rory Welsh and Brendan Clewes.
Nathan Roberts went to school at Special Interest Volleyball School, Brighton Secondary and has since played 395 games for the Australian men's Volleyroos. Nathan also represented Australia at the 2012 London Olympic Games and has played professional Volleyball overseas for many years.
Vice Captains, Rory and Brendan, come into their roles with a huge amount of leadership experience and are the definition of true South Australian POWER.
Head Coach, Derek Slater, said "The Storm men are extremely fortunate to have a wealth of experience on their list. Nathan brings leadership and his experience from playing at the highest level internationally and at the Olympics to drive the standards of the group and build the capacity of those around him. His contribution goes much further than game day, with valuable knowledge on playing systems being shared with the group.
Rory and Brendan are natural leaders who have a very high level of tactical awareness. They also bring their experience from playing in Australia and abroad to challenge the group to set high standards and work together to achieve their goals."
