SA Volleyball League Setting New Heights
22 March 2022
SAVL JuniorsVolleyball SA Announces FIRST Home and Away Season for South Australian Volleyball League Competition & Introduction of NEW U13 Competition for Juniors in season 2022.
Volleyball SA is excited to announce two major changes for season 2022 as the Men’s and Women’s League and Reserves competition in the SA Volleyball League (SAVL) moves to a “Home and Away” style season for the first time, in season 2022.
The organisation is pleased to provide clubs and players with the opportunity to play games at their home club/venue. This is a big step in the evolution of Volleyball within South Australia, providing opportunities for clubs to grow their match experience and offerings.
Volleyball SA is also eager to announce the expansion of our SA Volleyball League Juniors (SAVL Juniors) will introduce a new age group, U13’s. VSA is thrilled to add another age group into the pathway, increasing the accessibility of volleyball throughout SA and providing more opportunities to play our great game.
The U13’s competition will consist of 3 mini seasons, this will allow new teams, schools and clubs to enter teams throughout the year, rather than missing out of a calendar season, an exciting addition.
Both announcements demonstrate the growing demand for Volleyball within the community.
South Australia will become the first State in Australia to have a full senior Home & Away season. SA will also now align with the youngest age group offered throughout the country, whilst providing the most amount of age groups within the Juniors available to participate in. This is a much-needed progression for the general growth of our sport and South Australian Volleyball
Volleyball SA General Manager, Karla Della Pietra stated, the growth of Volleyball in Australia is prominent, and Volleyball SA are committed to being trailblazers to ensure we are meeting demands and keeping up with trends to further grow the sport.
“The SA Volleyball League will be welcoming new clubs, teams and participants in 2022. The growth of the league is evidence that Volleyball SA needs to stay one step ahead, assist clubs in finding their ‘home base’, keep lobbying for volleyball facilities and offer key resources and tools to help grow the sport.” Karla said.
The SAVL season consists of 15 rounds and will start on Saturday 7th May with the Grand Final to held on Saturday 17th September.
This announcement demonstrates the hard work, dedication and commitment provided by our clubs and community.
Volleyball SA is looking forward to seeing more spectators at venues throughout season 2022, as we move to a model where clubs can build on their spectator and community engagement.
“We look forward to expanding into two brand new venues, the Reynella East College newly built facility, home of South Adelaide Volleyball Club and Mitchell Park, home of Austral Volleyball Club” Jason Rivett, Participation Manager added.
Volleyball SA General Manager, Karla Della Pietra, said she was proud of the historic step our game is taking in the 2022 season and looks forward to seeing the competition progress.
2022 is shaping up to be a sensational year for Volleyball and we look forward to sharing it with South Australia.
