What an amazing long weekend for the VSA Academy athletes playing on the National Beach Tour in Cobram. Friday morning started early with a quick get-away from Goodwood, heading to Crafers to pick up the boys from the hills. After many, many stops to stretch legs, plus dealing with confronting 47 degrees, missing a few to many turn offs, we finally arrived in Cobram to a lovely pasta meal. Saturday was about preparation to play, with training in the morning before technical meeting in the afternoon and the start of the main draw. The VSA Academy athletes had very experienced athletes who often play on the National Tour in their pools which was a tough but a very valuable experience. Even though the athletes didn’t come away with a win, many lessons were learnt around preparation, being ready to perform no matter what the conditions, deciding to compete hard. The return home had very tired wary athletes who were keen to get back home BUT, Athletes left Cobram with a strong sense of what they need to do to get better, a keenness to get back into training and competition at the SABVS this weekend. Well Done to VSA Academy athletes for conducting themselves in a professional manner and a big thanks to Stef Weiler our athlete chaperon for being a True Gem all weekend!
