Coaching and Refereeing


A referee is accredited as a Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee when they successfully complete the following requirements

  1. The candidate must be at least 12 years old to be eligible for this accreditation.
  2. Be a registered VSA member.
  3. Completed the Play by the Rules modules:
    1. Harassment and Discrimination
    2. Child Protection – 18+ years old only
  4. Agree and sign the VA Officials’ Code of Behaviour.
  5. Complete the Volleyball Australia Fundamentals of Refereeing online course.

This accreditation is valid for a period of 2 years as long as the individual remains a VSA member.


All Volleyball Australia Online Education Courses hosted on the current Fortix Online Platform will be discontinued from Tuesday, 7th December 2021.

This includes:
  • Volleyball Australia Level 1 Coaching Course
  • Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee Course
  • Sport Australia’s Intermediate Coaching General Principles

Please note if you have registered for one of these courses prior to Tuesday, 7th December 2021, you must complete the course by Tuesday, 14th December 2021 to gain your accreditation.

Volleyball Australia will be launching a new Online Accreditation Management System on Tuesday, 7th December 2021. All coaches and referees in the current Volleyball Australia Accreditation system will receive an email detailing the transition of their accreditation onto the new system.

All new VA online courses will be available on the new system by Monday, 17th January 2022.
