As a coach, teacher, and former athlete, I am passionate about learning and creating success for those around me. The environment which I hope to create for athletes is one that is safe, and where athletes are ambitious, take risks and challenge themselves as well as those around them. Within my roles in the VSA High-Performance Pathway, and our State Team programs, I am committed to making these meaningful, successful, and sustainable.
Since 2017 I have been in Melbourne working as a teacher and competing as a beach volleyball athlete. In my experiences, I am hopeful that my many learnings with transfer to this role within the VSA High-Performance Pathway. Primarily my understanding of young people, and communication with families and each athlete as a unique individual, as well as my passion for learning and success within both disciplines of volleyball.
My coaching experience includes:
2020-21: Vic Beach - Women’s Advanced Head Coach.
2016-20: Western Region Volleyball - Beach Volleyball Head Coach.
2016-19: Volleyball Victoria - AJBVC Beach Volleyball Lead Coach
2013-2016: Maribyrnong Sports Academy - Beach Volleyball Head Coach, Indoor Volleyball Coach.
My participation in high-performance camps from 2016-2021 include:
2021: Integrated Junior Development Camp, Canberra ACT.
2020: U19 Australian Junior Development Beach Volleyball Camp, Glenelg SA (Male Lead Coach).
2019: U19/U21 Australian Junior Selection Beach Volleyball Camp, Glenelg SA.
2018: U17 Australian Junior Development Beach Volleyball Camp, Brisbane QLD.
2018: U19 Australian Junior Selection Beach Volleyball Camp, Glenelg SA.
2017: U19 Youth Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball Selection Camp, Brisbane QLD.
2017: U21 Male Beach World Championships Preparation Camp, Adelaide SA.
2017: U17 Post-AJBVC Development Camp, Perth WA (Male Lead Coach).
2017: U17 Australian Junior Development Beach Volleyball Camp, Adelaide SA.
2017: Papua New Guinea, Commonwealth Games Qualification Preparation Camp, Coolangatta QLD.
2016: U17 Australian Junior Development Beach Volleyball Camp, Adelaide SA.
My accolades as a beach volleyball athlete include various top-five finishes on the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour, highlighted by fourth place at the Cobram Crown event in 2019, Bronze in the NSW Open in 2021 and Silver at the Victorian Open in 2022. As a junior volleyball athlete, I also was an Australian Champion at both U17 Indoor and Beach Volleyball competitions (2010/11).
If you’ve made it this far, well done! I’m more than happy to share more about me with those that can get through a body of text! As I grew up in Melbourne, naturally I enjoy sports, watching sports and being involved with sports! This includes AFL as a long-suffering Carlton tragic, the EPL (Chelsea), the NBA (all teams) and cricket. I’m also burdened with being a Melbourne coffee snob and never shy away from rain or wind once it’s beach season (which is all year round!).
In my time at VSA, and involvement with the High-Performance Pathway, I hope that I can engage with, learn alongside our community, and contribute to a sustainable and successful pathway for our talented South Australian athletes. In all that I do, I hope to communicate transparently, and always with both honesty and empathy.
